We're near the end of the semester, which means that I'm busy reading dissertation drafts, undergrad and grad projects, and administrative documents rather than scholarship. But several books are on the docket. I'm partially through Bakhtin's Speech Genres and Other Essays and plan to reread Toward a Philosophy of the Act soon after that, to get a sense of the pre-Stalinist Bakhtin. The second book in MIT Press' Acting With Technology series, Activity-Centered Design, will be arriving in my box soon. So will the corrected copy of Complexities, so I'll be able to finish my review of that book. The participatory design classic Design at Work arrived recently, so I may review it soon. (I just found out that it's going to be reprinted, which is great -- this classic has been out of print for years.) And during the Q&A at my recent presentation at the School of Information, someone suggested Pickering's The Mangle of Practice. I guess that's enough reading for a while.
Any other suggestions? Let me know.
