I want to believe, but the Mars Phoenix won't let me

Yesterday, Slashdot ran a story claiming that the President had been briefed by NASA scientists about something, and speculated that it had something to do with the Phoenix lander finding organic materials in the Mars soil. This morning, the Mars Phoenix team announced on Twitter that these reports are "untrue and incorrect."
