(Incoming)

Usually I post book reviews on Wednesdays. But, believe it or not, I have caught up with my books this week. Instead, I've been working on an article about ... well, you'll see, but I can tell you that I've been heavily using my own reviews for the last couple of years.

In the meantime, I am reading two books:

The Transformative Mind: Expanding Vygotsky's Approach to Development and Education is Anna Stetsenko's project for basing a transformative activist stance on Vygotsky's work. Stetsenko studied with Leontiev, then migrated to Europe and then the US after the USSR's collapse, so she brings a broad set of experiences to bear on her project. I'm about a third through this book.

Revisionist Revolution in Vygotsky Studies: The State of the Art is a 2015 collection by Yasnitsky and Van der Veer. It's tremendously expensive, but my library has it in electronic form, so I began reading it through the library service. Unfortunately, that reading experience is so horrible that I couldn't get very far, yet the chapters I read were so remarkable that I had to read the rest. So the physical copy is now on my shelf, waiting for me to finish the Stetsenko book.

I'm excited about both, and I hope to review at least one by next Wednesday.
