Ariana Huffington did the same for Ned Lamont. It's not really a favor: Such speeches are of course a way for the (real) writer to tell off people who don't agree with them, while evading the responsibility of leadership -- the responsibility of forging consensus and coalitions (as well as maintaining decorum).
